==================================================================== DITHER DINGUS DELUXE - README ==================================================================== hey dawgs and dinguses, welcome to dither dingus deluxe. "This software is a personal-use media ditherer and processor built to transform your videos and images into retro-styled masterpieces." i just wanted a light weight portable dither tool to mess around with. it's all vibecoded slop also, so your mileage may vary. this shit is free and probably will never be updated. NOTE: this readme is actually written for the python version i generated before converting it to go, so if anything is wrong: i'm sorry. -------------------------------------------------------------------- OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE NOTICE & FFMPEG -------------------------------------------------------------------- This application includes pre-compiled binaries of FFmpeg (ffmpeg.exe). [custom colors] - Switch between palettes 1, 2, and 3 using the number buttons, then use the color pickers or hex text fields to tweak individual colors. - Use [+ ADD] and [- REMOVE] to adjust the number of colors in your custom palette (from 2 up to 8). [dither algorithm] - Select the mathematical dither pattern used to translate your colors (choose from Bayer Grid, Floyd-Steinberg, Sierra2 Soft, Heckbert Cut, Bayer Deep Ordered, Edge Directed/Ediff, or None for straight quantization). [viewing viewer] - Preview / Player Modes: Switch between inspecting a static generated frame preview or watching/looping your fully rendered video stream. - Reset Zoom: Resets the viewport image framing back to default. - Wiggle FX: Toggles a jittery random screen movement effect. - Torch It: Enhances contrast, saturation, and adds a dark vintage vignette. - Force Depth: Forces deeper contrast treatment and color depth scaling. [monitor controls] - Time (S): Sets the exact timestamp (in seconds) used when generating a single-frame preview of a video. - Generate Preview: Renders a lightning-fast preview frame using your current filter settings. - Encoder: Choose your export compression preset (Low for Discord/small size, Medium for balanced, or High for source quality). - Export Frame: Downloads/saves your currently displayed preview image. - Render Full Video Stream: Kicks off the heavy processing batch render for your entire video file. - Abort: Instantly kills any active rendering process in progress. [preset palettes] - Click any preset card (like Glorious Gameboy, Edgy Edgerunners, Vivid Vaporwave, etc.) to instantly apply it. - Source Checkbox / Extract: Pulls color data directly from the active media file itself. - Random Randy: Generates a random color palette. Use the dice icon (🎲) to reroll a new random palette, and the back arrow (⬅) to step back through your palette history. [extra effects (mixing grid channels)] - Scale: Adjusts the scaling/granularity factor of the dither pattern. - Depth / Contrast / Noise / Bloom / Lens: Adjusts video filter intensities across vertical levels 1 through 7. - Wiggle Str / Spd: Controls the intensity and speed of the Wiggle FX movement. - Scanlines: Toggles horizontal and/or vertical vintage CRT monitor lines, with a scale box to adjust their density. [lucky logs] - Displays real-time system output, error handling, and progress statuses. - Reset to Defaults: Instantly wipes all custom settings, effects, and palettes back to their original launch state.
